Moving beyond the view of social media tafsir as mere religious popularization, this research conceptualizes digital meaning production as an operational hermeneutical practice. Using qualitative content analysis of publicly accessible posts, the study identifies a three-stage interpretive process: discussion, reflection, and contextualization. Interpretation begins with framing contemporary problems—such as mental health, family relationships, and financial ethics—as the initial horizon of understanding. This is followed by reflective translation of Qur’anic values into the language of modern psychology and management, and culminates in contextualization, where these values are operationalized into practical principles for urban life. From a Gadamerian perspective, this dynamic represents a fusion of horizons between classical exegetical tradition and the lived experiences of digital audiences. The study concludes that digital Qur’anic interpretation on social media constitutes a problem-oriented hermeneutical model that reconstructs normative Qur’anic values adaptively within a digital communicative ecosystem.
Kholifah Rahmawati Copyright (c) 2025 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/1030 Mon, 15 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Ideologi Puritan dalam Tafsir Rahmat https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/1061
This study examines the Tafsir of Oemar Bakry which appears textualist and intolerant of diversity. Bakry's Tafsir, which is part of the dynamics of Qur'an Tafsir in the archipelago, is paradoxical to the identity of the archipelago, which is known as a multicultural and plural country. Based on this tendency, through a hermeneutical approach, the researcher tries to find the form of Bakry's tafsir that has a puritanical tendency, explore the factors behind Bakry's ideological reasoning, and place the relevance of his interpretation with the current reality. To obtain these results, this research uses qualitative research with primary sources from Oemar Bakry's Tafsir Rahmat, especially his tafsir of the themes of wasīlah, syafā'at, and grave pilgrimage. While secondary sources are found through a search for other literature that supports the research. Based on this research method, this study concludes that Oemar Bakry's puritanical tendency is consistently centered on the theme of wasīlah, syafā'at and grave pilgrimage. While the tendency of ideologization in Tafsir Rahmat is suspected to be influenced by several factors, including Bakry's pre-understanding of the ideology of the reformers, pre-understanding of the concepts of syafā'at, kafir, shirk and the use of a textualist approach in interpreting the Qur'an. Meanwhile, the relevance of Bakry's tafsir to the current reality shows that Bakry's tafsir is intolerant of religious diversity in Indonesia.
Tri Faizah Anggraini Copyright (c) 2026 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/1061 Wed, 10 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Dari Tobat Privat ke Akuntablitas Publik https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/981
This article examines the construction of repentance in Syu’bah Asa’s socio-political Qur’anic interpretation, focusing on his discussion of repentance in Dalam Cahaya Al-Qur’an: Tafsir Ayat-Ayat Sosial Politik. The study departs from the observation that repentance is often framed as a private spiritual experience, whereas Syu’bah Asa articulates it as a public ethic that binds both political leaders and citizens. Employing a qualitative library-based approach, the paper conducts an interpretive reading of the text by identifying key themes and tracing argumentative patterns. The findings indicate that Syu’bah Asa defines repentance through socially verifiable actions, particularly the restoration of public rights, accountability for unjust gains, and a concrete commitment to rectify abusive practices and public policies. He develops the notion of structural repentance, namely a form of repentance directed at systemic wrongdoing such as corruption, the suppression of civil liberties, and the abuse of power, thereby rejecting purely symbolic religiosity or verbal remorse as sufficient. These results position Syu’bah Asa’s tafsir as a transformational mode of interpretation that links Qur’anic spirituality to public accountability and socio-political reform.
Al Vinatul Kharimah, Ghina Ariqah Copyright (c) 2025 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/981 Sat, 20 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Integrating Critical Qur’anic Discourse In A Pesantren-Based University https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/1456
This study aims to critically examine how Orientalist discourse is integrated into the formal curriculum of pesantren-based Islamic higher education institutions in Indonesia, with a specific focus on ISQI Sunan Pandanaran Yogyakarta. The main argument of this research is that Islamic universities—even those rooted in pesantren tradition—are capable of facilitating a productive encounter between faith and critical rationality within the academic sphere. Using a qualitative approach and data collection techniques such as classroom observation and interviews with the head of the Qur’anic Studies program and 54 ISQI students, the study finds that Orientalist materials actually encourage a recontextualization of Qur’anic studies that balances faith with critical reasoning. Student reception indicates growth in reflective, argumentative skills and openness to interdisciplinary approaches. The findings suggest that pesantren have significant potential to become spaces for global epistemic dialogue when supported by inclusive and reflective pedagogical structures. The study recommends further exploration of cross-discursive curricular dynamics in contemporary Islamic education.
Abdul Kadir, Muhammad Alwi HS, Ni’mah Afifah Copyright (c) 2025 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/1456 Tue, 02 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Tafsir Remaja di Indonesia https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/1099
This article examines youth-oriented Qur’anic exegesis in Indonesia as a new segment within popular tafsir. It aims to analyze the characteristics of youth tafsir through three aspects: authorship, presentation, and exegetical methodology. The study employs qualitative library research using content analysis on three works explicitly addressed to young readers: Reflection on Surah Three Qul, Tafsir Gaul: Bebas Masalah Cara Al-Qur’an untuk Remaja, and Be Moslem Scientists. The findings show that youth tafsir in Indonesia is marked by the expansion of exegetical actors beyond formally trained Qur’anic studies scholars, while still deriving legitimacy from classical and contemporary tafsir sources. In terms of presentation, youth tafsir tends to employ popular language, thematic organization, visual elements, and communicative formats that resonate with young audiences. Methodologically, these works combine transmitted elements with ijtihādī-contextual approaches to connect Qur’anic messages with the experiences of young readers. Thus, youth tafsir may be understood as a mode of interpretation that rearticulates the tafsir tradition in a form more adaptive to the literacy culture of younger generations.
Chalimah Abdullah, Nurul Istiqomah Copyright (c) 2025 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/1099 Mon, 29 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Kritik Atas Penafsiran Al-Qur’an Feminis Muslim: Meninjau Ulang Keadilan Gender Al-Qur’an Menurut Feminis Muslim https://jurnalnun.aiat.or.id/index.php/nun/article/view/1157
